Who is Nation's CareLink?
Nation's CareLink (NCL) is a national firm specializing in providing health assessments and care coordination services in the insurance industry. Founded in 1987 as a local care management company, we have been providing objective health assessments for underwriters and claims analysts in the long-term care insurance industry throughout the United States for almost ten years.

Is a Network Nurse/Care Coordinator an employee of Nation's CareLink?
No. A Network Nurse/Care Coordinator is an independent contractor who has a signed contract with Nation's CareLink to complete on-site assessments on a casual, on-call basis.

What kind of work will I be asked to do?
Our Network Nurse/Care Coordinators perform assessments in the client's home and/or facility. The assessments are used to gather information regarding the client's ADL, IADL and cognitive status, as well as medical history, medications and environment. The assessments generally do not require any hands-on work such as gathering samples for lab work. Our Network Nurse/Care Coordinators may also be asked to do on-site Care Coordination on a case-by-case basis.

What is Care Coordination at Nation's CareLink?
Our Network Nurse/Care Coordinators work collaboratively with a RN Care Coordinator Specialist in the Nation's CareLink home office. Our goal is to assist clients in establishing the services they need in order to remain safe while maximizing their ability to recover. Achieving this goal may require follow-up visits to the client, or the development and implementation of a plan of care with the client and their family.

What kind of training will I need?
Once you join the Network, NCL will provide initial training through the interview process, sample assessment materials and videotape. Ongoing training is provided through evaluation of the assessments you complete and feedback from the home office care coordinator supervisors and network director. We are always happy to answer any and all questions you may have.

Do I need to complete a certain number of assessments per year?
No. As a Network Nurse/Care Coordinator, it is your option to accept or turn down assessments according to your schedule. This is a casual on-call position.

How far do I have to travel?
NCL attempts to contact you only with referrals within a 25-mile radius of your location. If you go beyond this 50-mile round trip, NCL will add an incremental reimbursement for additional miles traveled.

What is the reimbursement?
Our Network Nurse/Care Coordinators are reimbursed at competitive flat rates based on the type of assessment. The IRS differentiates between employees and independent contractors; therefore, all incidental expenses (mail/fax, travel and mileage) must be included in the flat fee reimbursement. For additional information regarding your tax status as an independent contractor, consult your tax accountant. Reimbursement for Care Coordination is at an hourly rate.

The number of referrals a Network Nurse/Care Coordinator receives will vary depending upon the needs of our insurance company customers.
